{"id":21831,"date":"2026-07-17T10:19:35","date_gmt":"2026-07-17T08:19:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ngi.be\/?p=21831"},"modified":"2026-07-17T10:40:30","modified_gmt":"2026-07-17T08:40:30","slug":"stem-en-altitude-quand-les-sciences-prennent-lair-lign-les-accompagne","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ngi.be\/stem-en-altitude-quand-les-sciences-prennent-lair-lign-les-accompagne","title":{"rendered":"STEM en Altitude : quand les sciences prennent l\u2019air, l\u2019IGN les accompagne"},"content":{"rendered":"<h5><strong>Le jeudi 28 mai 2026, \u00e0 l\u2019Euro Space Center \u00e0 Redu, a eu lieu la pr\u00e9sentation de la premi\u00e8re \u00e9dition de STEM en Altitude, un programme p\u00e9dagogique qui ambitionne de rapprocher les \u00e9l\u00e8ves des fili\u00e8res scientifiques. <\/strong><\/h5>\n<p>Port\u00e9 par le Belgian Balloon Club et r\u00e9alis\u00e9 en collaboration avec plusieurs partenaires, dont l\u2019IGN, le programme s\u2019adresse aux classes du deuxi\u00e8me et troisi\u00e8me degr\u00e9 du secondaire et propose une exp\u00e9rience immersive. Le projet vise \u00e0 d\u00e9montrer que les STEM (sciences, technologie, ing\u00e9nierie, math\u00e9matiques) ne sont pas des disciplines th\u00e9oriques, mais des leviers concrets pour comprendre notre environnement et r\u00e9soudre des d\u00e9fis r\u00e9els.<\/p>\n<p>Concr\u00e8tement, la mission des \u00e9l\u00e8ves \u00e9tait de pr\u00e9parer et r\u00e9aliser un vol \u00e0 bord d\u2019une montgolfi\u00e8re \u00ab\u00a0a\u00e9rospatiale\u00a0\u00bb de 2\u00a0974 m\u00b3.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Un contexte qui appelle \u00e0 l\u2019action\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>La p\u00e9nurie de jeunes engag\u00e9s dans les fili\u00e8res STEM est d\u00e9sormais qualifi\u00e9e de critique. Selon l\u2019ARES (Acad\u00e9mie de Recherche et d\u2019Enseignement Sup\u00e9rieur), seuls 17,11\u00a0% des \u00e9l\u00e8ves belges choisissent ces \u00e9tudes dans l\u2019enseignement sup\u00e9rieur, loin derri\u00e8re la moyenne europ\u00e9enne de 26\u00a0%. Le r\u00e9sultat de ce manque d\u2019enthousiasme\u00a0: les entreprises belges peinent \u00e0 innover et \u00e0 rester comp\u00e9titives faute de talents disponibles dans ces domaines.<\/p>\n<p>STEM en Altitude s\u2019inscrit pr\u00e9cis\u00e9ment dans une strat\u00e9gie de long terme visant \u00e0 inverser cette tendance, en intervenant au moment cl\u00e9 o\u00f9 les \u00e9l\u00e8ves de troisi\u00e8me secondaire commencent \u00e0 r\u00e9fl\u00e9chir \u00e0 leur orientation. En tant qu\u2019institut fortement bas\u00e9 sur les domaines STEM, l\u2019IGN s\u2019inscrit dans cette strat\u00e9gie.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pourquoi une montgolfi\u00e8re\u00a0?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u00ab\u00a0<em>Voler en ballon, c\u2019est naviguer avec certitude vers l\u2019inconnu\u00a0<\/em>\u00bb, aurait d\u00e9clar\u00e9 Pierrick Duvoisin. Cette phrase r\u00e9sume parfaitement l\u2019esprit du programme\u00a0: chaque vol est une mission scientifique. Les \u00e9l\u00e8ves mobilisent la physique (dont la fameuse force d\u2019Archim\u00e8de), les math\u00e9matiques, la technologie, l\u2019ing\u00e9nierie, mais aussi la g\u00e9ographie et le fran\u00e7ais dans une approche interdisciplinaire inspir\u00e9e des v\u00e9ritables missions spatiales.<\/p>\n<p>Une enseignante r\u00e9sume l\u2019impact de mani\u00e8re \u00e9loquente\u00a0: <em>\u00ab\u00a0Cette activit\u00e9 permet de percevoir la force d&#8217;Archim\u00e8de de mani\u00e8re concr\u00e8te et c&#8217;est comme cela que je veux enseigner les sciences.\u00a0\u00bb <\/em>Les retours des \u00e9l\u00e8ves confirment cette intuition\u00a0: l\u2019activit\u00e9 rend les STEM plus tangibles, plus compr\u00e9hensibles, et surtout plus captivantes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Une mission\u00a0: r\u00e9concilier les jeunes avec les sciences<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>STEM en Altitude d\u00e9montre qu\u2019une approche immersive, concr\u00e8te et interdisciplinaire peut r\u00e9ellement transformer la perception des STEM chez les jeunes. Ensemble, les partenaires offrent une exp\u00e9rience unique o\u00f9 les \u00e9l\u00e8ves d\u00e9couvrent que les sciences ne repr\u00e9sentent pas seulement un savoir, mais aussi un savoir-\u00eatre.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Le r\u00f4le de l\u2019IGN\u00a0: fournir les cartes qui permettent de planifier la route<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Parmi les divers partenaires engag\u00e9s, l\u2019IGN joue un r\u00f4le cl\u00e9 en apportant une expertise g\u00e9ographique essentielle. L\u2019IGN contribue au programme en fournissant des cartes LowAir, qui reprennent les informations de type a\u00e9ronautique et sont utilis\u00e9es sp\u00e9cifiquement pour la navigation a\u00e9rienne \u00e0 basse altitude, tels que les vols en montgolfi\u00e8re.<\/p>\n<p>Ces cartes permettent aux \u00e9l\u00e8ves de comprendre les contraintes r\u00e9elles d\u2019un vol\u00a0: relief, zones a\u00e9riennes, obstacles, altitudes, trajectoires possibles. En int\u00e9grant ces donn\u00e9es g\u00e9ographiques, l\u2019IGN apporte une dimension professionnelle et concr\u00e8te \u00e0 la mission scientifique. Les \u00e9l\u00e8ves d\u00e9couvrent que la cartographie n\u2019est pas seulement un outil de localisation, mais aussi un \u00e9l\u00e9ment essentiel de la s\u00e9curit\u00e9, de la planification et de la compr\u00e9hension du territoire.<\/p>\n<p>Cette contribution renforce l\u2019approche interdisciplinaire du programme et montre comment les sciences g\u00e9ographiques s\u2019inscrivent pleinement dans les STEM.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Un mod\u00e8le inspirant\u00a0: Rapha\u00ebl Li\u00e9geois<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Le programme s\u2019appuie sur une figure embl\u00e9matique\u00a0: Rapha\u00ebl Li\u00e9geois, astronaute belge aupr\u00e8s de l\u2019ESA (Agence Spatiale Europ\u00e9enne). Son parcours traverse les quatre piliers des STEM et illustre parfaitement les valeurs que le projet souhaite transmettre, tels que la curiosit\u00e9 scientifique, la coop\u00e9ration et l\u2019engagement. Il incarne aussi l\u2019importance des comp\u00e9tences transversales (ou <em>soft skills<\/em>) pour r\u00e9ussir dans le monde des sciences.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Une structure p\u00e9dagogique renforc\u00e9e<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Les exp\u00e9riences, les enseignements et les retours des \u00e9l\u00e8ves sur la phase pr\u00e9paratoire du projet ont permis d\u2019affiner l\u2019approche. STEM en Altitude propose d\u00e9sormais un cadre p\u00e9dagogique plus structur\u00e9 et efficace\u00a0:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>un mat\u00e9riel p\u00e9dagogique complet et appropri\u00e9, d\u00e9velopp\u00e9 avec l\u2019asbl Ose la Science\u00a0;<\/li>\n<li>une capsule vid\u00e9o qui documente les \u00e9tapes de la mission\u00a0;<\/li>\n<li>un accompagnement hybride, incluant des sessions \u00ab\u00a0Brief the teacher\u00a0\u00bb par Inforsciences (ULB).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Le projet, soutenu par une mallette p\u00e9dagogique structur\u00e9e, est d\u00e9sormais pr\u00eat \u00e0 s\u2019\u00e9tendre et \u00e0 toucher un nombre croissant d\u2019\u00e9l\u00e8ves.
