For the first time, the entire Belgian territory will be published at a scale of 1:25 000. Discover the rich topography and toponymy of Belgium in this atlas!
This atlas contains the most recent and detailed topographic maps currently produced and printed by the National Geographic Institute. It combines the first (2016-2022) and the second edition (2024-2029) of the 1:25 000 scale map series.
Topographic maps are graphic and flat representations of the landscape displaying the visible elements of the terrain. Those elements include hydrography, vegetation, roads, dirt roads and paths, railway lines, toponymy, micro-relief features, different types of buildings, and numerous other structures. The symbols in the key allow the map reader to identify and interpret all these landscape elements.
The maps in this atlas were created at a scale of 1:25 000. This means that one centimetre on the map corresponds to 25 000 centimetres, or 250 metres, in reality. Large-scale topographic maps allow a highly detailed and accurate representation of reality.
