Programma

GeoInt Launchpad for security and defence (EN)
Nils Wuytens - VITOGeospatial technology is playing an increasingly important role in security and defence, ranging from situational awareness and satellite data to AI-driven analysis and autonomous systems. This presentation introduces the concept of the BE Defence Launchpad, an initiative that brings together start-ups, research institutions, investors, industry and defence to accelerate the development and testing of dual-use technologies. With a particular focus on geodata, satellite applications and spatial analysis, the talk highlights how the Belgian innovation ecosystem can contribute to new defence capabilities. The session explores how incubators, acceleration programmes, testing facilities and public-private collaboration can help translate geospatial innovations more rapidly into operational applications for defence, security and crisis management.
Defence vs Start-Ups (NL/FR/EN)
Koen Ceulemans - Belgian DefenceSeven points to take into account if you are a Start-Up looking to go into Defence and Dual-Use.
Geospatial Challenges at Defense - Call for solutions (EN)
Damien Closson - Defensie , Gianni Guarraci - NGI/Ministerie van Defensie , Nicolas Godart - DefensieIn the context of Innovation for Defence, the Belgian Defence Geospatial Centre will expose 3 geo challenges to the industry:
- AFRO-GEO: Offline AI geo-conversational assistant for African conflicts & illicit-activities analysis
- Conversion webshop: Online catalog offering on demand data conversion for weapon systems
- Auto MUVD: Automatic extraction of urban vector data at 1:5k

Advancing Interoperability through NATO standardization (EN)
Hannah Törnell - Belgian Defence Geospatial CentreThis session presents the collaboration between the National Geographical Institute (NGI) and the Belgian Defence Geospatial Centre in aligning national geospatial data with NATO standards. The project focuses on interoperability and seamless data sharing to support defence operations and international cooperation.
Introduction to MUVD/MGCP & Rapid Mapping (NL/FR/EN)
Aurélien Smolders - NGI - DefenceA presentation of the NATO projects MGCP (Multinational Geospatial Co‑production Program) and MUVD (MGCP Urban Vector Data). This initiative brings together 33 countries to combine their efforts and knowledge in producing detailed geographic data for maps of the world.
TanDEM-X High Elevation Resolution Data Exchange Program (TREx) (EN)
Siebe Cool - NGI-DefenceThe TanDEM-X mission high resolution elevation data is produced at a ground sample distance of approximately 12 meters. Digital elevation data at this quality level has proven to be of great value for both the civil and military communities supporting a myriad of mapping products and geospatial studies. To make this data source most exploitable for the broadest user base, special effort is needed to bring the “raw” state of the data to a “finished” state. Since this dataset should be available globally it is too much work and a financial burden for a single nation. That’s why a multinational coproduction program is introduced named TREx (TanDEM-X High Resolution Elevation Data Exchange).
GALO RFI (FR)
Annick Pireyn - Belgian Defence Geospatial CenterInformation regarding the upcoming launch of the ‘GALO Request For Interest,’ whose purpose is the acquisition of a national satellite imagery capability for Defense.
New EU Earth-Observation Governmental Service (EN)
Frédéric Bastide - European CommissionA new EU Earth-Observation Governmental Service (EOGS) is proposed by the European Commission for implementation in the coming years. This initiative is designed to address the emerging needs for a resilient dual-use Space Based Earth Observation (SBEO) capacity for security and defence applications for the benefit of EU Member States.
